Back Lake
The largest of the lakes at Wensum Fisheries this is truly a challenging specimen water of the highest calibre, which has historically produced the largest of the carp from Wensum Fisheries along with big bream, pike and tench.
The lake is around 9.5 acres and very irregular in shape with large enticing bays and jutting peninsulas giving anglers an unrivaled level of intimacy to explore the lake from every angle. Surrounded in woodland the lake offers peace and tranquility often missing from today's busy fisheries and an opportunity to fish for large forgotten fish from a different era that no longer have a name tag attached.
Expect to be challenged by this relatively shallow water with depths around 4-6 feet in some areas which tend to become weedy through the summer months. And again the obligatory large patches of lily throughout and due to the nature of the lake areas that cannot be fished all go to provide an intrigue to this lake coupled with our low density stocking program the lake will give up its big fish grudgingly but the rewards could be surprising.
With stunning carp to mid thirties, tench & bream to 8-9lb, some superb large Rudd, and pike to double figures the lake fits the traditional mixed species criteria perfectly.
Historically many of the large fish have been taken from the much deeper margins expect to find depths of around 12 feet in some places just under your rod tips, these deeper areas with overhanging branches provide anglers total control over bait presentation and now with the possibility to fish the lake after dark we expect this to be the approach many will use to unlock the secrets this lake holds.
